Learning websites and Napier, NZ

This week, some of my students are looking at websites which are created within schools – by teacher librarians, by teachers or by both together. One of the students (thanks Catherine) alerted the class to site containing examples of potentially inschool created websites. The websites in question were designed by teacher training students at Southern Cross University in Australia and there are some very good examples e.g. Elizabeth.  If you click on Student Activities,  you’ll see how it’s possible to create a range of activities for students which can help them with the topic as well as the assignment. Some great ideas here for TLs to collaborate with teachers.

Last week, I was in New Zealand’s north island and went to visit the amazing town of Napier which was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931 and features a superb range of Art Deco buildings as well as Art Deco interiors. You can see a video of the town before and after the earthquake at the Art Deco shop in the town centre and then take a tour or just walk round. Pictured below is an excellent example of an Art Deco building.
