ISLM and half marathon

I’m alerted to International School Library Month (ISLM) by Rick Mulhollandwho coordinates the committee. The idea behind ISLM is that the month of October each year is designated as ISLM but school libraries in different countries can choose their own particular day as School Library Day. There are a host of downloads available from posters to suggested activities. If you haven’t participated in this before, give it a go as it’s a good chance to do some marketing within your school community.

On Saturday last, I was helping at the Haddington Half Marathon . Haddington is the next town to Dunbar and is 18K from here. I was helping at tow of the water stations and also taking photographs. The race (13.2 miles or 21K) goes around the countryside mostly and, as harvest time approaches in a couple of weeks, the fields are bursting with grain and potatoes. I’ve put the photos on my Flickr site. If combine harvesters are among your favourite things, then this is for you. Otherwise, enjoy the countryside.
